"CITY KIDS" CAMP WEONA
OUTDOOR EDUCATION CENTER!

This program guide is designed to assist leaders in planning an exciting and memorable experience for "City Kids" at Camp Weona. Our program is intended to be an extension of the school curriculum.
Full participation in the planning process and in the program experience will ensure that you and your group will get the most out of your visit to Camp Weona. We will work with you to design an Environmental Education Program, an Adventure Program or some combination of the two to suit your needs and interests.
The Camp Weona staff is highly trained and ready to help make our group stay at Camp Weona rewarding, fun and educational.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Butler Mitchell Boys Club has been an institution on the West Side for over 50 years. As a testament to the effect that the club has had on a tremendous number of kids throughout the years, a strong organization of alumni has evolved. Members of the "Butler Mitchell Alumni Association" are dedicated to providing young inner-city kids with the opportunity to experience the guidance and direction that they may not otherwise have.

The mission of the "Butler Mitchell Alumni Association" is to improve the immediate and future quality of life for the youth of our city through educational, recreational, and cultural activities. These ideals are offered in collaboration with all community-based organizations and youth service agencies. This collaborative rationale is part of an effort to maximize and support, not duplicate, opportunities furnished to area youth.

The purpose( s) of the "Butler Mitchell Alumni Association" is to help fund public and private programming to foster the mission of the organization, and encourage in the youth of the community, a spirit of loyalty and faith in American traditions and institutions; to participate actively in constructive movements and endeavors for the promotions and safe guarding of the interest and general welfare of the youth of the community; to promote the spirit of benevolence, friendship, sociability, goodwill and tolerance amongst the youth of the community; and to cultivate and improve the moral and civil standards of the youth of the community.
